After the US Military (primarily the Air Force) with jet fighters were forced to leave Japan we went to Okinawa. We (the US Government) had already given Okinawa back to the Japanese an they were in the throes of reversion. Some of the local people didn't want to revert back to Japan, others did, all I knew is that we loved it on the island and didn't really want to go back to the US.
Nothing of any consequence happened on the island, I started learning to fly and changed career fields to something that I enjoyed a bit more. We played a lot of golf, watched the kids grow up and all in all enjoyed a one year tour before heading back to the US.
